The modern world increasingly closes us into artificial environments: offices, cars, screens. In contrast, nature acts as a true remedy for our mind, body, and soul. It is no coincidence that in recent years science has been paying more and more attention to the beneficial effects of spending time in nature. Combined with the perspectives of mindfulness and slow living, nature becomes a real resource that helps us find our way back to inner peace.

According to research, just 20–30 minutes spent in nature daily significantly reduces stress hormone levels.

Walking in green environments not only reduces mental overload, but also improves concentration and creativity. Nature acts as a kind of “mental reboot,” restoring attention capacity that is easily depleted in urban environments.

Being present in nature is one of the simplest forms of practicing mindfulness.

When we walk under the canopy, listen to birdsong, or simply sit by a lake, we instinctively tune into the present moment. At such times our senses reconnect with reality: we feel the touch of the wind, hear the sound of the water, see the play of light on the leaves. These experiences are not only pleasant, but also affect us on a biological level: the pulse slows, breathing deepens, blood pressure decreases.

Did you know that… According to the slow living perspective, nature doesn’t have to be only the setting for weekend hikes, but can be a part of our everyday lives.

Even if we can’t walk in a forest every day, we should strive, whenever possible, to stay connected to nature: bring plants into the office, choose a park route instead of the gym, or simply spend half an hour in the garden or on the balcony, consciously observing our surroundings.

It is important that time spent in nature not be a mechanical activity. It should include presence, letting go, and receptivity.

Nature is not just a backdrop, but a living, breathing environment that teaches and heals at the same time. If we give it space in our daily lives, not only do we change – our relationship with the world also becomes deeper, more conscious, and more love filled. 🪴
